2010 North American International Auto ShowBy Brett Gourdie Commonly referred to as the “Detroit Auto Show,” this show seemed a bit more upbeat over the 2009 show. NM3 Magazine made the trek down to Cobo Hall for one of the media day previews, and by the way we were the only northern Michigan media to actually attend the show. Yes we could have picked up photos and content from many of the freelancers who run the halls of Cobo, but we choose to bring it straight to you. The overall atmosphere for 2010 was upbeat as compared to the 2009 show, which was like walking thru the biggest convention of coma induced scared puppies assembled anywhere on the planet. There were still some sad displays including the whole GM display, which showed a sea of gray 2010 models to the press, and then switched them out with more vibrant colored cars when the show opened to the public. Not quite sure who the think they were fooling here. GM seemed paralyzed and afraid to show us anything flashy or exciting. Instead most of the vehicles displayed seemed right out my grandfather’s garage. |

The bright and vibrant Ford display seemed to sum up the era of confidence Ford Motor Company is currently riding. The cars and trucks all were inviting and left us with a feeling that these guys get it. The lineup of vehicles from top to bottom shows us Ford is ready to take on the world. The new Taurus, Fusion, and the new Fiesta, which comes from their popular European line, all show Ford as an international leader. The new 2011 Ford Focus was named the “Most Significant” vehicle of the 2010 North American International Auto Show by AutoWeek. Watch out for this one when is debuts late this year, nice work Ford! |
